What can i send in?
You can send in any VHS Tapes, DVDs, and photographs. As long as the media does not violate our policies, feel free to send us anything!
Can i send in movies?
You may send in home movies that were made by family members, friends, and others. By federal law, we cannot digitize any material that has been copyrighted without the explicit permission of the owner of the copyright. This prohibits us from digitizing movies like Monsters Inc. and Moana but allows for us to digitize home movies of loved ones opening Christmas presents.
Is this legal?
Digitization of media is legal. However, we will contact proper law enforcement agencies if illegal material is seen on your media.
Will my videos remain private?
Yes, your videos will remain private. The only person that can access the physical media are employees at Pastlens. When your media is converted, your files will remain secure, and only you will receive the link to download the media. Once you receive a link, you can forward the link to friends and family. Keep in mind that anyone who has the link can view the video, and anyone who has the link can share the link. If you share the link with a family member, the family member can send the link on to others.
How will i receive the digital file?
Once your media has been processed, we’ll upload it to our website for you to download. We will email you a special link to access the files. Only you, the owner of the media, will have access to the link to download the media.
what if i want my media on a flash drive instead?
No problem! During the checkout process, check the box stating “Include Flash Drive.” Once your media has been digitized, we’ll send you a flash drive in the mail.
will i get my media back?
By default, we recycle all of the media–except photographs–that are sent to the studio. Photographs are mailed back to customers. If you would like your media to be returned, simply check “Return Media” during the checkout process.
how long will it take to digitize?
While wait periods change on the volume of submissions we receive, we try to digitize your media within a two week period. Typically, we are able to receive, digitize, and send you a digital copy of your media within 7 business days.
will you take ownership over the video and image content that i send in?
No, the content you send to us will always remain your property. Our only goal is to digitize your content so you can preserve your memories with friends and family!
the quality of my vhs was horrible. did something happen?
Unfortunately, the quality of VHS Tapes decreases rapidly over a few decades. Once the video and audio quality of a VHS Tape is lost, it cannot be restored. We strive to capture your memories under the best quality possible.
i have damaged vhs tapes, dvds, film, or photographs. can you repair them?
At this time, we are unable to make repairs to your media. In the future, we plan on adding media repair as a speciality. Please check back regularly for updates.
can you please turn my favorite disney vhs tapes into a digital file?
As much as we love Aladdin and Monsters Inc., federal law prohibits us from digitizing material that is copyrighted by third parties without their permission.
